ABOUT ME

The Surgical RVN was created by

Andy Christie, PGCert AVN (Anaesthesia & Analgesia), RVN

Anaesthesia and analgesia are two areas of the veterinary nursing role that I am really passionate about, as well as Schedule 3 procedures. I wanted to make a website that would help those with similar passions to mine as well as those who are less confident in these areas. I am really keen to help empower veterinary nurses in the profession and boost the role that we have.

WHAT IS THE SURGICAL RVN?

The Surgical RVN was created to help all veterinary nurses when faced with questions or interests in particular surgical procedures. The goal of the website was to act as a compendium of how-to's, guides, tips, and suggestions for as many routine and non-routine surgeries as possible. If you have a procedure that you will be involved with and you need a refresher on the surgery or how best to approach it from a nursing role, then the guides here are designed to help walk you through it.

WHY DID I MAKE THE SURGICAL RVN?

Before monitoring any surgeries or procedures that I hadn't done in a while or wasn't as confident in, I would search online and read loads of different websites to find tips and suggestions for how best to monitor and nurse these cases. It was often challenging to compile all the information so I wanted to make a website that would have everything in one place.
